All About Disney World

by Amy Lytle on 05/11/16

So you want to plan your Disney World Vacation, but you have no idea where to begin. We are here to help! House of Travel specializes in Disney World Vacations. We love helping you plan, save, and get the most of your vacation.

This post is specifically for Disney World in Orlando, FL. If you are interested in other Disney Vacations (Disney Land, Disney Cruises, or Disney Adventures), feel free to comment or contact us.

We've got a lot to cover, so let's get started!

First of all, Disney makes your vacation personal and memorable. Every little detail is customized for you and your family. Everything! I mean Resorts, Tickets, Park Hoppers, Dining, Character Dining, Magic Express, Bracelets, Memory Package, & Much more! These are all customized to your needs and we are here to help make your dream vacation as easy and worry-free as possible.

Disney is on 40 square miles of land, with over 30 Resorts located on Disney's Property. Don't get overwhelmed - there are 5 Resort Categories to choose from based on your budget. Within these 5 Categories are 5-10 themed resorts to choose from. All Resorts are located in different areas. If this is important, please look at this Resort Map to see where they are located. Here are your Resort Categories:

  • Disney's Deluxe Resorts
  • Disney's Deluxe Villa Resorts
  • Disney's Moderate Resorts
  • Disney's Value Resorts
  • Disney's Fort Wilderness Resorts & Campground (Campsites)

Disney provides transportation to and from Disney Resorts and Theme Parks for guests who stay on Disney's property.
Okay, so not everyone has to stay on Disney's property. But it is best if you want the whole experience. It is about the same price to stay at a Value Resort on Disney's property, as it is to stay off the resort at a hotel nearby. When you stay at a Disney Resort, you will also receive these incentives:
  • Complementary Shuttle Transportation from and to Airport
  • Transportation to and from Disney Parks & Resorts
  • Each Guest receives a Magic Band Bracelet
The big question is - "How many days is perfect for Disney World?" Well, there are 4 Theme Parks, 2 Water Parks, and Disney Springs (Old Downtown Disney) that is great for Nightlife & Entertainment. Depending what you want to see, we suggest 4 to 6 days for a Disney Vacation. This will allow you to see everything or almost everything.
Disney does offer anything from 2-day tickets up to 10-day tickets with the option of add-on park hoppers and water parks, Park Hoppers allow you to go to more than one park per day. So, remember this when purchasing tickets:
4-Day Base Ticket- allows you to go to 1 park per day
4-Day Base Ticket w/ Park Hopper- allows you to go to however many parks you want every day.
Water Park- can be an added additional cost

4 Theme Parks
  • Magic Kingdom
  • Animal Kingdom
  • Hollywood Studios
  • Epcot
2 Water Parks
  • Blizzard Beach
  • Typhoon Lagoon

Magical Express passes are Disney's complimentary shuttle from and to the airport. If you are using a rental car or took a road trip, you will not need this extra feature. You will also need to provide your flight information, so that Disney can be there to pick you up

Food! You will have tons of food options to choose from at Disney. There are restaurants and little snack huts all over each Theme Park.

If you want a more all-inclusive Disney vacation, there are 4 Disney Dining Packages available for purchase depending on your preferences:
